Updates from LMRC

08/21/2020

Dear LMRC Community,

We have continued to monitor this rapidly changing Covid-19 situation to make the best decisions we can for our rowing club and community. LMRC takes the safety and well-being of our members seriously. On March 13th, 2020 LMRC was temporarily closed due to the state-wide shelter-in-place order.

We have been following guidance from State of California, Alameda County & Public Health, Oakland Park’s Dept. and USRowing. As you are likely aware, Governor Newsom recently eased some of the state restrictions, which first allowed the use of rowing singles (non-shared equipment) and more recently included shared equipment with additional restrictions. This recent announcement along with approval from the City of Oakland allowed us to initiate our second phase of reopening.

5/6/20 Phase 1: Use of private singles allowed

6/15/20 Phase 2: Use of club singles allowed (utilizing boat bubbles) Free Coached sessions & checkouts offered

07/06/20 Phase 3: Use of single-household doubles allowed.

07/07/20: Phase 4: Accepting membership applications for experienced singles rowers and private boat owners.

07/27/20: Phase 5: Use of club singles is relaxed by city and boat bubbles are no longer necessary.

07/29/20: Learn-to-Row sculling classes and private lessons resume.

8/31/20: Free coached sessions end. Fall coached programs (am/pm launch). Youth Rowing resumes.

12/4/20: Bay Area Health Officers issue new Regional Stay-at-Home Order. All Non-Member Lessons, Classes and Clinics have been canceled until further notice.

1/25/21 [Revised Shelter-in-Place Order Issued]

2/2/21 Community Learn-to-Row Classes resume following Covid-19 safety guidelines and Covid-19 Prevention Plan.

We have new operating procedures until we can return to normal operations. We are open by appointment only to LMRC members for the independent use of private singles, club singles and single household doubles and pairs. Rowers will be required to use a mask, follow enhanced sanitation protocol with social-distancing at all times. Shower facilities will not be available. Bathrooms will be open to use at your own risk, and must be wiped down after use.

All teams and programs are on hold as we transition back to the water. We will have coaches on the water in the mornings and evening and will be available for rower guidance. Applications for new members are always welcomed and we do have rack-space available for private-singles.

We are all operating in uncharted territory. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to keep our community safe for everyone.

Stay Safe –

Lori Schwefel – LMRC President
